What kind of product is good to wash the wood floor? Are bleach and dishwashing detergent good?

Water and vinegar is what I use on all the houses I clean. It leaves them clean, drys relatively quickly, and doesn't leave a residue to collect dust or make them sticky.

Or you can use a murphys soap. What kind of product is good to wash the wood floor? Are bleach and dishwashing detergent good?
It seems that there is still some bad smell (kind of sour) in my kitchen, it's driving me nuts!!! I passed the mop like 6-7times already... Report Abuse

Bleach and dishwashing detergent would be good for a linoleum floor but not for wood.

Murphy's Oil Soap is good on wood.
murphy's oil soap. bleach will ruin it
you can use a small amout of bleach in a bucket of water, and wring your mop out until it is nearly dry, this should help with the odors, Then you can apply a thin coat of varathane to reseal your floors
You can save some money and just use about a cup of vinegar (white) in one gallon of warm water. It is not the best smelling but you won't build up extra oil on the wood and it does a good job cleaning.
That depends on the floor: if it is true hardwood, just detergent and water. If it is a laminate, ask the manufacturer.
Don't use anything but Murphy's Oil Soap.

Bleach WILL discolor it!
I have found the best wood floor cleaners are the ones that are sold at Home Depot or Lowe's or your local floor dealer that doesn't need to be rinsed off and you can just spray on the floor or on a sponge mop will clean, even scuff marks without scraping and keeps the floor looking as good as new for a longer period of time. My friend has a ballet studio and the time to clean this was long and pain staking. When I found her a cleaner at a wood flooring place it has saved her time and people even commented if she put in new flooring, they even have ones that keep a shine or clean without making it slippery.

I wish I had a bottle here to give you the name. Good luck.
If your wood floor smells use ';Nature's Miracle'; it gets rid of pet odors caused by 'accidents' which may have happened by the previous tenant.
