Do you add laundry detergent when using bleach in the wash?

The instructions on the bottle of bleach says to add one cup to the machine when it's filled with water and then wash as normal. Do you have laundry detergent in there too?

Right now I'm just using the cup of bleach.Do you add laundry detergent when using bleach in the wash?
You add laundry detergent when using bleach just like a normal load.Do you add laundry detergent when using bleach in the wash?
I have to disagree. While it is assumed by most that this would be correct, the truth is that detergent and bleach cancel one another out chemically and you are wasting both by mixing them. Use the bleach only when necessary w/ white cotton (will turn poly yellow) items (or read labels). Report Abuse

oh, honey, yes, put you a capful or a little less of laundry detergent in with your bleach. Bleach is just a whitening agent and disinfecter. Be careful with your bleach that you don't splash it, cause it will spot up whatever it touches. And never use bleach with colored clothes. I just use bleach with my socks, underwear, dishrags, etc. hot water for wash, cold water for rinse. Now again, this is for whites only.
yes you need to add laundry soap in with your bleach but only on whites wash in hot water rinse in cold but i stress do not use bleach on anything other then whites if you do then you will need to replace everything you just washed
I always use detergent and bleach together. It has never hurt anything, so I will continue to do this. Seems that it gets the clothes cleaner than if I use one or the other.
Yes. Bleach is just a laundry booster. I never use it alone.
Yeah, you have to put the soap in there too.
well yea...duh
