Is it better to wash whites with bleach or not?

I do not use bleach every time. It tends to turn them yellowish and wears out the fabric faster. Hubby on the other hand washes all his undershirts and underclothes with warm water and bleach each time. He says it just feels like it cleans better that way. I rotate unless there is a stain or something on it. I usually use color safe bleach for almost all of my loads except for very dark colored clothes. Is it better to wash whites with bleach or not?
Bleach will get you the whitest whites, but will also cause clothes to wear out faster. Bleach is very hard on fibers!

However, it's always a good idea to bleach things like underwear and kitchen towels (not necessarily together!), to make sure you're killing the germs that are inherent in tushies and kitchens! Is it better to wash whites with bleach or not?
i would only use bleach on whites if theres a real bad stain (ex's: blood coffee wine mustard etc) but if your just washing them and they havent beend abused to badly i would wash normally
Bleach make whites appear whiter but the downside is it shortens the life of the fabric somewhat. It becomes a question of what is more important to you appearance or life of the clothes.
maybe not too often.
Bleach is not the answer to getting your clothes white. Bleach only makes your whites turn Gray %26amp; Yellow after a short time of using it in your wash. Best way to get your whites whiter than white, Is by using Natural soap. then hang them out in the sun. The sun will bleach your white clothes the natural way, and leave them whiter than white
yah, it helps to keep them white :)
yes bleach, but not to much
Bleach eventually yellows clothing.
No ! after awhile Bleach can cause whites to become yellowed or grayish when washed too much in Bleach, I have a better safer more effective alternative for you, just wash your whites in one cup of White Vinegar to whiten and brighten your wash, then on next washings you can add to your rinse water a half cup of Vinegar or just add to your fabric softner dispenser in your machine, no need to add any fabric softners when using Vinegar as vinegar will soften also saving you money on fabric softners and bleaches, it will whiten and brighten your whole wash and will not cause yellowing or graying of whites and will also lessen the lint in your washer and dryer will also clean and remove stains from clothes and remove residues from both clothes and your washing machine and keep it working longer by removing soap residues from the pipes and hoses and drains it will also remove lime buildup and help your washing machine clean better everytime, vinegar also cleans and disinfects and sanitizes laundry, and all around your home, it has been touted as being the best disinfectant in the world, it is also a all purpose cleaner and has been tried and tested by me personally and have been using Vinegar to clean and disinfect my home and remove stains and soften my laundry and is by far cheaper than Bleach. Good Luck !
yes it is, I use bleach on all my whites, keeps them whiter longer, watch out though, using to much in one load will turn them yellow.
It is best to use bleach on white every third or four time you wash them.Or less if they don't need it.Chlorine will eventually break down the fibres of your clothes. It's even harsher on the elastic in underwear, socks and some T-shirts.In the summer I try to hang my white in the sun to dry as this will bleach them a bit as well.
