There's absolutely no need to bleach any clothes (white or otherwise) unless they're heavily discoloured, it will rot the fabric away over time - if it's machine-washable just do that, if handwash, just use appropriate wash powder, always rinse well and allow to dry naturally.
Detergent is the #`1 cause of fading. You do not ';disinfect'; clothes. You just use the appropiate soap and wash in warm water and air dry. Do not use HOT water or HOT dryer.
Do not use bleach on colored clothing, you will ruin it. Why not buy detergent with bleach substitute and you wont have to worry about it.
You can buy color safe bleach at the supermarket. ';Clorox 2'; and ';Purex 2'; are the first two to come to mind. There are other brands to choose from.
