What kind of product is good to wash the wood floor? Are bleach and dishwashing detergent good?

Water and vinegar is what I use on all the houses I clean. It leaves them clean, drys relatively quickly, and doesn't leave a residue to collect dust or make them sticky.

Or you can use a murphys soap. What kind of product is good to wash the wood floor? Are bleach and dishwashing detergent good?
It seems that there is still some bad smell (kind of sour) in my kitchen, it's driving me nuts!!! I passed the mop like 6-7times already... Report Abuse
What kind of product is good to wash the wood floor? Are bleach and dishwashing detergent good?
Bleach and dishwashing detergent would be good for a linoleum floor but not for wood.

Murphy's Oil Soap is good on wood.
murphy's oil soap. bleach will ruin it
you can use a small amout of bleach in a bucket of water, and wring your mop out until it is nearly dry, this should help with the odors, Then you can apply a thin coat of varathane to reseal your floors
You can save some money and just use about a cup of vinegar (white) in one gallon of warm water. It is not the best smelling but you won't build up extra oil on the wood and it does a good job cleaning.
That depends on the floor: if it is true hardwood, just detergent and water. If it is a laminate, ask the manufacturer.
Don't use anything but Murphy's Oil Soap.

Bleach WILL discolor it!
I have found the best wood floor cleaners are the ones that are sold at Home Depot or Lowe's or your local floor dealer that doesn't need to be rinsed off and you can just spray on the floor or on a sponge mop will clean, even scuff marks without scraping and keeps the floor looking as good as new for a longer period of time. My friend has a ballet studio and the time to clean this was long and pain staking. When I found her a cleaner at a wood flooring place it has saved her time and people even commented if she put in new flooring, they even have ones that keep a shine or clean without making it slippery.

I wish I had a bottle here to give you the name. Good luck.
If your wood floor smells use ';Nature's Miracle'; it gets rid of pet odors caused by 'accidents' which may have happened by the previous tenant.

Do I put my washer on rinse cycle, after I wash a load with bleach?

I am bleaching my whites for the first time (cotton)

and I just wanted to know, do I put my washer (after my whites are done and in the dryer) on rinse cycle to rinse off the remaining bleach that may be on the sides so they dont get on my coloureds?Do I put my washer on rinse cycle, after I wash a load with bleach?
I doubt very seriously there would be enough left to cause any harm, but it certainly wouldn't hurt anything to run a rinse cycle with no clothes. It will buy you some peace of mind, and could actually help if you used a lot of bleach.Do I put my washer on rinse cycle, after I wash a load with bleach?
It's not necessary since most washers get rid of all remaining soap residue. If you're worried and have nice clothes though, why not.
No you don't have to but if your washer has an extra rince cycle, you can switch that on.

White jeans turned yellowish in wash and bleach is not working..HELP?

My mom just washed a new pair of white denim jeans (i'm not sure what was in the wash), but they came out with an off white/yellowish color. She is soaking them in bleach and the color is not coming back to white.

Any remedies?

ThanksWhite jeans turned yellowish in wash and bleach is not working..HELP?
there may be iron in the water, which is causing the discoloration.White jeans turned yellowish in wash and bleach is not working..HELP?
you should check and see if youve got iron the your water. it causes yellowing of certain fabrics.

  • What happens if u wash all white chucks with bleach?

i would like to know because i'm tired of cleaning them with a scrub because then they rip .... thats why i want to know if i could just throw them in the washer with bleach and nothing will happen to themWhat happens if u wash all white chucks with bleach?
I think it would be safer to use a bleach alternative or oxy clean. Washing canvass shoes in bleach over time will either make them turn yellow, loosen the glue or fall apart. you could probably safely do it a couple of times but after that you are back to square one. What happens if u wash all white chucks with bleach?
the blaech will probably eat away at them
Why would you wash vomit with bleach?
I washed a pair of canvas shoes in bleach and they completely fell apart, the bleach destroyed the glue and the material
I agree with the previous comments. They might get even more damaged with the bleach. Even if you just use a little bleach, the canvas will most likely turn yellow with time.
why are you getting them dirty in the first place? i have black ones so it solves that problem. but, it might work. id try spot leather cleaner. Good Luck!

Can I wash my white sneakers with bleach?

Can I throw my Adidas sneakers into a warm water washing machine with bleach? Will it clean well and will it damage the material? Can I wash my white sneakers with bleach?
You're better off hand washing them. You can do that but they can get mangled. Do your foot inserts come out? If they don't come out they will be the first things to go, and then the seams will start to separate. So what do you do? Soak in a bucket and hand wash with a scrubber sponge (or scrubber brush that will work ok) and then air dry them outside. They can take a little sunlight, but don't leave them out there forever they wil shrink too much. Can I wash my white sneakers with bleach?
My husband does it all the time.

Years ago, my sister decided to clean her beloved little canvas Keds, and soaked them in bleach in the bathroom sink overnight... but when she checked on them in the morning, the bleach had eaten away all the canvas! I don't think I've ever laughed so hard in my life! So, don't soak them in straight bleach.
sure bleach will work... but only if they are completely white... otherwise they will get messed up
    no but use it sparingly
I've done it many times, and it hasn't hurt my Nike's!

What takes the color come out of towels when you wash them and didn't use bleach?

what are you using to wash with ? some of the acne products that are on the market cause the dye in the towels to fade just as bleach would...What takes the color come out of towels when you wash them and didn't use bleach?
Generally if you buy a good brand of linen (like Sheridan) the die won't come out.

But inferior brands will fade much faster.

Stick with well known brands, they may cost twice as much but will last 10 times as long.

You can buy so called colour fast detergent but I don't think it works anyway. What takes the color come out of towels when you wash them and didn't use bleach?
They use dye to color the threads when they make the towels. The dye is just fading the more you introduce them to detergents and hot water!!
Were they new towels? Sometimes the dye hasn't set properly, and if this is the case, you may be able to return them.
just the stuff in the detergent

    How do you wash/bleach whites?

You mean white clothes, I trust. If you have a full load you add 1 cup of Clorox Bleach to the bleach dispenser on your washing machine. Or, if you don't have one such dispenser, you can add it directly to the water while the washer is EMPTY and filling with water. Also add your detergent. Wait for the washer to fill at least half way, so it's all well mixed, before adding your white laundry. Make sure you use a long wash cycle setting.

If you have less than a full washer of whites, adjust the quantity of bleach down: 1/2 load = 1/2 cup bleach. 1/4 load =1/4 cup bleach.

How do you wash the white clothes with bleach?

I usually have a small load of whites so i set the water to Medium amount.

There's this hole in the middle of my washer machine where i put the liquid clothe soap or w/e. I put regular soap in there, but after i finish the dark heavy clothes i then put in the whites.

Question is: Can I pour the bleach in that little soap holding area where i put the regular soap? Or do i bathe the bleach into the water where the clothes is?

plz%26amp;thnx %26lt;3How do you wash the white clothes with bleach?
When I wash a load of whites, I turn on the washer and let it fill up completely with hot water. If you have a small load, I'd set it to small so your load isn't sopping wet when it's done. I pour about a cup of bleach and a scoop of soap powder into the water and swish it around with my hand. Then I'll put the clothes in and continue the cycle. Gets my white clothes sparkly clean and oh the smell! I love the smell of Clorox and Gain! How do you wash the white clothes with bleach?
I like to keep a separate bucket and fill with hot water, detergent, and some bleach. This is good for soaking socks and very soiled stuff in smaller amounts...You can add this to a larger load of lighter clothes later without have too much bleach in the load. Always mix water, bleach and/or detergents before adding additional clothes for even distribution.
My washer has a separate dispenser for the bleach if yours has one you can use it. The safest way it to let the washer completely fill before you add bleach so you even bleaching and no holes.
put the bleech where the water is

Is it ok to wash my dishes with bleach?

Will bleach harm me? I have been using bleach to wash my dishes for a year. If there are any consequences then I have never noticed. Is it ok to wash my dishes with bleach?
Since cups can get tea and coffee stains that can be difficult to get out, there must be a layer of organic material still clinging to the dish's surface. I have read that in the process of bleaching tea-bags, there is a residual of dioxins left in the paper, and so I suspect that there might also be a residual of dioxins left in the cups after bleaching. That is the reason that I personally do NOT use bleach on dishes, except in unusual circumstances.

I have been involved in summer camps where people ate communally, hot water was in short supply, and intestinal 'bugs' were going around. I used bleach in the dishwater then, and tried to rinse very well.Is it ok to wash my dishes with bleach?
As long as you thoroughly wash the dish with running water afterwards, there's no harm. But I believe there's no reason to wash dishes with bleach in the first place! I'm just curious, why do you use bleach?
    no harm.....

its safe as long as you was it all off. when i go camping w/ my girls scout troop we always soak our utensils in bleach to kill any germs we might get from like dirt or mosquitoes or something
Using a small amount of bleach should be okay. Make sure that it is diluted with water and make sure you rinse your dishes very well. Why not use a dish detergent?
i wouldnt pour too much in but 3 or 4 table spoonsfull in a whole sink full of water shouldnt hurt as long as you rinse the dish well with plain hot water to remove all the chlorine water.
wow.....bleach can be very harmful to us....but just make sure you wash your dishes very clean and i think you should use a dish washing liquid from now...it'll be much safer

Why do old women not use bleach or colorsafe bleach to wash their underwear? I live with My mother-in-law and?

she doesn't know how to wash clothes. They always smell funny after she washes them. Why do old women not use bleach or colorsafe bleach to wash their underwear? I live with My mother-in-law and?
Do not make a general statement or judgement about ALL older women by your experience with your mother-in-law. I doubt you can successfully change the way she does things. Let her do her laundry her way, and you do yours your way. This isn't worth having a disagreement about.

Is it safe to wash a rag used with Clorox Bleach with my other clothes?

It can possibly ruin dark clothes, jeans and reds........It would be fine to put in with other cleaning towels and can actually refresh bath towels..........My advise- put it in a load with nothing you find very important and Happy Cleaning!
NO please don't. It will possibly ruin any colors. I do the same but I throw mine in with whites or towels that I do not care about.
rinse it out really well in the sink first

Is bleach for colors needed in your wash?

I am thinking I get the same results from washing clothes whether I use bleach for colors or not (when not washing whites). Yes, bleach works great on whites, but colors? What do you think? Is bleach for colors needed in your wash?
No, there is no need for bleach in any of your laundry, its just for getting white whiter, but there are many laundry detergents that offer the same effect, look for cheer dark, or tide cold water. Its true you can use only cold water, and everything gets just as clean. Is bleach for colors needed in your wash?
I actually like using bleach for color i think it really helps with the stains like from grass and such. I have young boys. If your clothes dont get that dirty i don't see why you would use it.
Bleech has great antibacterial properties. However, the bacteria live on the things that are stuck to your clothes with oils from your body. Detergents break down these oils. I'd only use the bleech for special occasions, when you've been somewhere really nasty because it has a habit of wearing down fibers.

i have never used household bleach, and would not like to, BUT ,you can buy proper ';clothes'; bleach called ACE. i have used this many times and found it very good.
Monster-in-law swears you can use ordinary domestic bleach, and she has for many years. Better half swears you shouldn't, but that proper Ace bleach already mentioned is fine. Me, I keep my head down . . .
yes-I do this simultaneously with detergent because I hate the smell of bleach. It always has good results. Good luck!

Is it ok to wash Pergo floors with bleach?

Ive tried everything when mopping my floor but there seems to be nothing that gets it clean! I was wondering if bleach would harm my Pergo floors? Is it ok to wash Pergo floors with bleach?
Bleach won t hurt the laminate but its not recommended to do mopping on a laminate floor..Mopping can put excess water on the flooring and cause damage.

There are ways to clean laminate but w/o knowing what your trying to clean up..

I ve attended several seminars and installation classes as well as installed a few 100,000 s/f..

Any questions you can e mail me through my avatar .Is it ok to wash Pergo floors with bleach?
Bleach is not recommended. One thing that I have found to work and doesn't streak is to mix 1/2 cup vinegar with 1 gallon of water then mop with a microfiber mob. Be sure to squeeze as much moisture out of the microfiber as you can, then mop.

Laminate floors are very hard wearing and I doubt that bleach would harm them, but it would be best to test in an inconspicuous area first and use a diluted solution.

As you are probably already aware it is best to use only a damp cloth or mop etc and not to wet the floor too much as excessive water can cause damage to the laminate.
I would never use bleach on my pergo floors. I think it would damage the finish. When mine get grimy I use a solution of vinegar and hot water on a well rung out micro-fiber mop. I also use a hard surface floor steamer. My floors are beautiful. To maintain your floors I would start with putting rugs or mats at all entrances from outside. Wipe up any spills straight away. I have googled alot of sites for clean my floors.
it wont harm them, but make sure to dillute the bleach with water...i'd say 1 part bleach, 2 and a half to three parts water
I wouldn't think so, flax soap is for wood floors. Only use products that are for wood.

Will bleach stains get worse if i wash them?

hey i need some help. i got some splashes of bleach on a top, luckily they're not too noticeable so i can still wear it, but i'm worried that if i put it in the wash, the bleach may dilute and ruin the whole top but i'm not sure. I obviously don't want to risk it, but if anyone has any knowledge on this subject, please let me know! Will bleach stains get worse if i wash them?
You can wash the top, the bleach won't run or ruin the blouse any more than it already has. Will bleach stains get worse if i wash them?
I agree with the person above me. Also, if you don't actually wash it out soon, the bleach can literally ';eat'; through the fabric and then instead of little bleach stains, you can end up with little holes -- and the edges of those holes can also run and spread them even bigger.

Is it okay to use bleach in hot water to wash white pants? will anything happen?

how much bleach and laundry soap?Is it okay to use bleach in hot water to wash white pants? will anything happen?
you could but they might shrink (especially if they have any spandex in them at all) i've made that mistake many times, now i use cold water and i don't dry them, i just hang them up and let them air dry.

(i wouldn't use bleach either, if they have any stains then use spot remover)Is it okay to use bleach in hot water to wash white pants? will anything happen?
    Just do it.
1st. Fill washer w/ water then add bleach 1/2 cup add laundry soap.. once it starts agitating add pants.
Use it per directions on the bottle/box, you can buy color fast bleach too.
it is usually alright to use bleach on most whites but some wont take good to it best to check the washing instructions on the label of the item to be washed if there is an x through the bleach sign then dont use
Yes with certain materials after its dry yellow spots will appear
I put my white tank top in the sink with bleach and cold water, let it soak for about an hour, then i just rinse it really well then throw it in the washer with my other cloths!! It is VERY white, and doesn't smell like bleach or soak up any other color!! We have very hard water too-so you would be surprised on how white it is :) lol and I don't measure anything I just take of the top and pour!! Good Luck!! :)
For bleach to work at its best , you should use hot water. If you are going to do a laundry full of whites use the directions for laundry soap and bleach on the packages. if you are washing thenm by themselves, use about one eighth cup of bleach and two tablespoons of laundry liquid in large tub. agitate and let soak for a few minutes then rinse well , you could use a small amount of liquid downey too.
yes nothing will happen ur whites will go back to white
I don't know why it would hurt.

I agree w/ freaky gardener's response, however, most clothing says not to bleach, so you can't really go buy that.

Trial %26amp; error is how I learned.

Also, if you don't want to use hot water or bleach, try warm water %26amp; oxy clean/sun(generic brand); My sister swears by this %26amp; never uses bleach.

When you wash Chuck Taylor Converse do you wash it with bleach if you put it in the washing machine?

Definitely not...you should rinse it with water, then use some sort of leather cleaner, and then rinse it with water again...if you use bleach, it'll turn them a very light color. When you wash Chuck Taylor Converse do you wash it with bleach if you put it in the washing machine?
DON'T ADD BLEACH IF THERE NOT WHITE SHOES.When you wash Chuck Taylor Converse do you wash it with bleach if you put it in the washing machine?
If they're white, yes. If they're colored, no.

Is it better to wash whites with bleach or not?

I do not use bleach every time. It tends to turn them yellowish and wears out the fabric faster. Hubby on the other hand washes all his undershirts and underclothes with warm water and bleach each time. He says it just feels like it cleans better that way. I rotate unless there is a stain or something on it. I usually use color safe bleach for almost all of my loads except for very dark colored clothes. Is it better to wash whites with bleach or not?
Bleach will get you the whitest whites, but will also cause clothes to wear out faster. Bleach is very hard on fibers!

However, it's always a good idea to bleach things like underwear and kitchen towels (not necessarily together!), to make sure you're killing the germs that are inherent in tushies and kitchens! Is it better to wash whites with bleach or not?
i would only use bleach on whites if theres a real bad stain (ex's: blood coffee wine mustard etc) but if your just washing them and they havent beend abused to badly i would wash normally
Bleach make whites appear whiter but the downside is it shortens the life of the fabric somewhat. It becomes a question of what is more important to you appearance or life of the clothes.
    maybe not too often.
Bleach is not the answer to getting your clothes white. Bleach only makes your whites turn Gray %26amp; Yellow after a short time of using it in your wash. Best way to get your whites whiter than white, Is by using Natural soap. then hang them out in the sun. The sun will bleach your white clothes the natural way, and leave them whiter than white
yah, it helps to keep them white :)
yes bleach, but not to much
    Bleach eventually yellows clothing.
No ! after awhile Bleach can cause whites to become yellowed or grayish when washed too much in Bleach, I have a better safer more effective alternative for you, just wash your whites in one cup of White Vinegar to whiten and brighten your wash, then on next washings you can add to your rinse water a half cup of Vinegar or just add to your fabric softner dispenser in your machine, no need to add any fabric softners when using Vinegar as vinegar will soften also saving you money on fabric softners and bleaches, it will whiten and brighten your whole wash and will not cause yellowing or graying of whites and will also lessen the lint in your washer and dryer will also clean and remove stains from clothes and remove residues from both clothes and your washing machine and keep it working longer by removing soap residues from the pipes and hoses and drains it will also remove lime buildup and help your washing machine clean better everytime, vinegar also cleans and disinfects and sanitizes laundry, and all around your home, it has been touted as being the best disinfectant in the world, it is also a all purpose cleaner and has been tried and tested by me personally and have been using Vinegar to clean and disinfect my home and remove stains and soften my laundry and is by far cheaper than Bleach. Good Luck !
yes it is, I use bleach on all my whites, keeps them whiter longer, watch out though, using to much in one load will turn them yellow.
It is best to use bleach on white every third or four time you wash them.Or less if they don't need it.Chlorine will eventually break down the fibres of your clothes. It's even harsher on the elastic in underwear, socks and some T-shirts.In the summer I try to hang my white in the sun to dry as this will bleach them a bit as well.

  • Is it true you can wash vegetables with water and bleach?

If so, how much bleach in a quart of water? Is it true you can wash vegetables with water and bleach?
It would have to be absolutely minimal. One capful for every 5 to 10 gallons of water. Is it true you can wash vegetables with water and bleach?
the best thing to wash veggies with, is Peroxide, and then rinse, or Baking soda, and rinse.
Yes you can but the bleach should be well diluted.

You can use a tiny bit of bleach in dirty water (out of a pond etc.) to steralise the water and is a recommended way (if you know what you are doing) to steralise water. However you need to know the correct dilutions otherwise it can become harmful. However at low concentrations is is completely harmless.

However, having said that, water should be enough on its own to clean vegetables.
not if you're planning on eating them. Bleach? No. Water does the job just fine.
bleach mmmm that doesnt sound good
No bleach at all it will soak into the veggies and taste like crap then make you sicker than a dog, Just rinse in water you will be fine.
Yes it is true. I normally use about 1/4 cup to a quart and after scrubbing the veggies they get rinsed in plain water.
You possibly could. Many people who raise rabbits use it to keep the bacteria down in the drinking water of rabbits to help prevent them from getting sick as easily. If you were to look on the old bleach bottles they showed the bleach being used for treatment of the water in kiddie pools. It basically has the same effects as chlorine in your water. So if you have city water there is no reason to add bleach to the water, because your water already has chlorine in it.

For well water, veterinarians recommend adding about 0.75 tsp to 1 tsp per gallon of water for watering rabbits. You'll want to use regular bleach. It's probably best to only use 0.75 tsp because most bleach formulas were made slightly more concentrated a couple of years ago so that you only have to use three-fourths compared to one.
if i had to wash my veggies in bleach, i think i would purchase them elsewhere water and brush (u can buy a veggie brush) work just fine
Absolutely you can and it's 1Tbsp/Qt and rinse after. I also use this ratio in a spray bottle to clean up and disinfect my counters and cutting boards. (on the advice of my microbiologist brother)
    NOOOOOOOO, DON'T DO IT!!!!!
    Bleach? Are you mad?

Running water and a scrub brush is all you need. Why use one chemical to get rid of another. If it's dirt you're worried about, I'd rather eat the dirt than let bleach touch my food.
!!No bleach!! Your water should have enough chlorine in it to kill off anything. People are becoming to mush of germ-a-phobics, that's why we're getting so sick all the time. Being exposed to a little germs helps build up your immune system. If you try living in a bubble all the time, your going to get sicker then normal when you go out. Mother nature has provided us with many good germs to help us out. Bleach is going to give you the runs!!!
that doesn't sound safe...bleach is a harsh chemical

I buy new ones and use the old ones for cleaning the bathroom or the windows or something.....Do you bleach your kitchen dishcloths,or just wash them at a high temperature?
i usually just buy new ones
i usually was them at high temp but if i have used them on raw meat /blood i will either bin them or bleach them before washing them.
    high water for both
My kitchen bleach bottle says it kills all known germs so I just soak my cloths in my wash up bowl with a mixture of bleach and water therefore sterilising my bowl at the same time. should I need to use the bowl or the sink then after a wee while I just squeeze it and hang it up to dry as germs need moisture to breed so if the cloth is hung up to dry the germs cant live without moisture anyway. For germs to flourish they need light, moisture, heat and time. deprived of only one of these then the germs should die anyway.
I use beer towels (I have a large collection) I only use them once and then throw them into the washer to be washed with the next load. Never had food poisoning yet. Hot water is enough to clean surfaces and I don't leave cloths around festering.
On the programme How clean is your house there was a hint about when you put on your dishwasher throw in the dish cloths also as they will be cleaned at high temperature without a separate wash.
I throw them in the washer with the towels, rags, underpants, and handkerchiefs -- hot water and bleach.
I let the dishclothes soak in a bowl with bleach and water.. then i place them in the dishwasher.. to let the hot water kill all bacterias.. or I might wash them in the washer and dryer..
Yes I use Bleach when washing my dish towels and bath towels.

I use bleach in all my whites to.

Bleach cleans my clothes and keeps them from turning dule and grey looking.

Keeps my laundry fresh, helps remove stains and deorderizes.
I use bleach but Iam going to use the Julie tip !
Best thing for kitchen dishcloths is wash them at high temperature then pop them in the microwave for 5 seconds, kills all bacteria completely. You don't always have to wash them, you can just pop them in the microwave like i said for five seconds...Got this tip off the TV Show, ';How clean is your house';...
I sometimes bleach and sometimes wash on high heat. But I like JULIE answer about the microwave. Sounds ok.
I wash my dishcloths with bleach in hot water, but if you're concerned about being environmentally conscious, just boil them in a pan for a few minutes.
Use J-Cloths for 2 days machine wash and after about 3 weeks throw it away. Buy a roll of jersey cotton and just cut off a bit and throw away ofter use. Don't use a cloth use kitchen paper and hang up to dry and use again. What do you use a dish cloth for. I never use a dish cloth, rinse dishes under tap and put in dishwasher. Use kitchen roll or other cloth and throw away or wash. Tea towels should be used for taking things out the oven not for drying dishes. Ugh. Bleach is a no.no

What temp should I wash whites with bleach at, hot, warm, or cold?

It really doesn't matter. Bleach activates no matter what the temperature of the water and to save energy I use cold water to wash nearly everything. What temp should I wash whites with bleach at, hot, warm, or cold?
I am stunned at all the people saying they don't wash anything in hot water.

Towels AND whites should be washed in hot water....bleach or no bleach.

That's just gross if you don't.What temp should I wash whites with bleach at, hot, warm, or cold?
    I do cold.
I would do it on warm or hot , this will ensure bright whites and clean whites also...
Eskie is right. However, I was my undies and towels in HOT, just to be sure I've killed all the germs. (Hus and I work in a hospital and I'm going to nursing school, so I was ALL our work items in hot water.)
    Bleach works at all temperatures.

However, the water temperature has a lot to do with how much something shrinks. If the item might shrink, use cold water.

Some stains (like blood) are 'set' by hot water, so use caution, or you might end up with too-small, stained garments.

Remember to pour the bleach into the water before you add garments -- some fabrics literally melt from a direct pour of bleach.
I always wash my whites in HOT water. I guess it's a family tradition that carried on from my grandmother.

I think it makes your clothes more sanitary.
I use warm, unless its kids really nasty socks, or something grimey, be careful not to use too much bleach. It will wear out your clothes, use it lightly especially if its a name brand like clorox, However I do use cold sometimes depending on my money situation, hot water runs up your electric or gas bill.
I don't think I've ever washed anything in hot water.

You should use the lowest water temperature possible to clean the load effectively.

I wash my colors in cold....whites go in warm. Adding of bleach will not affect the temperature at which you should select for the water.

If i bleach my decking to get off the green mold then wash with hose would the bleach affect my grass?

i have grass all the way round my decking. If i bleach my decking to get off the green mold then wash with hose would the bleach affect my grass?
Yes it would affect the grass. Use a pressure washer. If i bleach my decking to get off the green mold then wash with hose would the bleach affect my grass?
try using a pump up sprayer instead and mix it about 50 50 spray away from the grass toward the deck.

    ';';';';';';';';General Disinfecting';';';';';';';';';';';';';';

Use the following method to disinfect hard, nonporous surfaces at home:

1.Create bleach solution using 戮 cup Clorox庐 Regular-Bleach per gallon of water.

2.Wash, wipe or rinse items/area with water, then apply solution.

    3.Let stand 5 minutes.

    4.Rinse thoroughly and air dry.

    Please note:

Do not use Clorox庐 Regular-Bleach full strength for cleaning surfaces.

Always dilute strictly in accordance with label directions.

Wear gloves when cleaning for prolonged periods.

Bleach solutions need to be made fresh daily. Once diluted, bleach breaks down quickly-mainly into salt and water. Many spray bottles contain metal parts in the trigger spray. Bleach will corrode these parts over time. Bleach is an irritant and using bleach in a spray bottle can be very irritating to some especially those individuals with chronic respiratory or heart conditions.

    Disinfection of Drinking Water (Potable)

When boiling of water for 1 minute is not practical, water can be made potable by using this product. Prior to addition of this product, remove all suspended material by filtration or by allowing it to settle to the bottom. Decant the clarified contaminated water to a clean container and add 8 drops of this product to 1 gallon of water (2 drops to 1 quart). Allow the treated water to stand for 30 minutes. Properly treated water should have a slight chlorine odor. If not, repeat dosage and allow the water to stand an additional 15 minutes. The treated water can then be made palatable by pouring it between clean containers several times.

For cloudy water, use 16 drops of this product per gallon of water (4 drops to 1 quart). If no chlorine odor is apparent after 30 minutes, repeat dosage and wait an additional 15 minutes.

    Good luck

PS... IN THE EVENT YOU WANT TO USE ANOTHER PRODUCT.. vinegar is good .. and besides being a disinfect

Someother interesting ways to use this product:

White vinegar can be used to disinfect, clean and shine nearly every surface in and around your home without a lingering vinegar smell. It can clean as well as most chemical products without giving off dangerous toxins, it is highly competent and cost far less than name brand cleaners. It is possible to do nearly every household cleaning chores by simply using white vinegar and water.

Bathroom: Grout can be whitened by applying full strength, let stand, then scrub with a toothbrush dipped in vinegar and soap scum is removed using two-thirds vinegar and one-third water. Use undiluted for hard water stains on fixtures, tiles, shower doors and porcelain.

Kitchen: Full strength vinegar will cut grease and de scale coffee makers. To disinfect wood cutting boards, use one- third water to two-thirds vinegar and wipe with the grain. Clean and shine appliances using a spray bottle of half vinegar and half water. Use in the dishwasher to deodorise and leave your dishes streak free by simply adding vinegar to the rinse cycle. Use on no wax vinyl, wood and tile floors with 1 cup vinegar in a gallon of water. For quick clean ups keep a spray bottle of vinegar and water solution in the kitchen, bathroom, and laundry room.

Laundry: Spray water and vinegar solution on stains before washing. Add a cup of vinegar to your final rinse, this will soften and sweeten your laundry and break down detergent residue. If you prefer using fabric softener in the dryer, pour a little vinegar onto an old face cloth and throw it into the dryer with the rest of your clothes.

Pet messes and odors: Two-thirds warm water and one-third vinegar can be used to clean pet messes. Pour mixture on the area and scrub with a sponge or brush. Soak up excess and let dry. If using on carpet or upholstered furniture, make sure it is colour fast and shrink resistant first.

Walls: Vinegar and water removes dirt on walls using half warm water and half vinegar. Nicotine, stains, and grease are removed easily and crayon will dissolve with a little perseverance. (if grease or oil stains are heave, use warm vinegar full strength)

Hair rinse: For soft and shiny hair, use one-third cup vinegar and two-thirds cup warm water. This same solution can be used on kid's hair during the dreaded head lice season. Vinegar closes the shaft of the hair making it too slippery for eggs to be attached. The same solution will also dissolve the glue like substance used to attach their eggs for times when head lice have already begun to nest.

White vinegar is a natural air cleaner. Wherever the cleaning solution is used, it will neutralize airborne odors and leave the room smelling fresh and clean. Can i use diluted bleach to wash out syringes when hand feeding birds?

Why do my linens come out of the wash looking like they have bleach spots?

Every set of sheets I own I have ruined. They come out of the wash looking like bleach has been splashed on them. These are good quality sheets and NO, I do not use bleach......just regular Gain detergent. Why do my linens come out of the wash looking like they have bleach spots?
it's the detergent. many people make the mistake of putting the clothes in and then putting detergent on the clothes and letting the water fill up.

what people need to do is start the washer, pour the detergent so it mixes with the water and then put the clothes in one by one so that all the clthes get an even amount of water and detergent on them.

wash your whites after you've washed your colors because there may be left over bleach from your whites if you've washed them before your colors.

otherwise, change your detergent. Why do my linens come out of the wash looking like they have bleach spots?
Sounds like it is time to change detergents. Does the gain have any bleach in it? The first answerer was right though. You are suppose to either add the soap th the water then put in the laundry or put the laundry in %26amp; fill it with water before you put the soap in. I use to get spots on my clothes until I got a front loading washer that has a soap dispenser. At least my spots came out. It does sound like the gain has some bleach in it though.
I most likely think the fabric softener if you use any. Your suppose to apply it will water has fill up half way and use the scope to mix it with water.

Are you using Gain with bleach that be it....

I use Gain too and other detergents. But with Gain, I noticed the clothes fade after several loads of wash

What happens if you wash your mouth out with bleach? will it dirupt the dna and cells in your mouth?

If so how much bleach to use? What happens if you wash your mouth out with bleach? will it dirupt the dna and cells in your mouth?
You know, there are other ways for them to gather your DNA than just your mouth. Rinsing your mouth out with bleach will not change your DNA or burn it out, no matter how much you use. It will only make you sick and will blister your mouth. What happens if you wash your mouth out with bleach? will it dirupt the dna and cells in your mouth?
You will end up in hospital. Poisonous and corrosive.
No... but it will burn the skin inside your mouth and probably poison you.

Is is okay to wash dark clothes after washing a white load with bleach with a LG front load washer?

i just got a L G washer/dryer- and i was wondering because its front load u have to pour the detergent/ and bleach in this tray. after using bleach for a white load, i went to put a dark load and in the tray it seemed as if the section for the bleach had a bit of liquid still there...

if i put in this dark load, will it ruin the clothes? or is whats left not bleach,,??Is is okay to wash dark clothes after washing a white load with bleach with a LG front load washer?
Whats left in your bleach tray is just water. Because water pumps into the tray at the right time to bring the bleach down to the clothes. Is is okay to wash dark clothes after washing a white load with bleach with a LG front load washer?
I do this all the time and have never had a problem because the bleach goes in at the beginning of the wash cycle not the rinse cycle. The rinse cycle would ensure all the bleach is out of your machine.
i do this all the time and never really thought about it but i never had my darks turned white. AND I LOVE my LG front load washer/dryer!

(Don't you love that it gets all the water out! i can't believe that the clothes are almost dry out of the washer. My towels have never been so fluffy. I used to hang dry everything.)

If I wash clothes in bleach, that were mildewed are they safe to wear?

My work uniform was in my trunk for one week and it rained inside the trunk causing mildew on the uniform. I soaked them for 30mins and washed them in bleach. They SMELL fresh but I'm afraid to wear them again on my skin. Is it safe?If I wash clothes in bleach, that were mildewed are they safe to wear?
If you are in doubt, wash them in normal wash again. let it soak for awhile. This should remove the bleach smell and any residual bleach. Bleach in normal use would not harm. My grandma used them when I was small for stained napkins. I don't think it hurt me. I know of people who still swear that cleaning stained teacups by soaking in weak bleach solution is best.

So the choice is yours. If I wash clothes in bleach, that were mildewed are they safe to wear?
If there is one think bleach is great for it is killing mildew. That mildew is GONE. Don't worry anymore. There is not a trace of that mold or its spores on there.
why dont you just throw it out and buy new ones mold is no good!!!!!
    yes
Yes, bleach is such a good sterilizer, that in very small quanities it is used to purify water to make it safe for drinking. How much bleach did you add to your wash? You might want to wash again using just water for another rinse cycle otherwise it could be itchy against your skin depending on how much bleach you added..
1 part bleach to 10 parts water will kill most any thing
Yes, bleach kills everything, there isn't any mildew left in your clothes. If you get rash it's probably from the bleach!
    Yes , Safe and colorless.
The bleach should have killed all the mildew. As long as the signs of mildrew are gonw you should be ok to wear them

  • How to wash colored undergarments, I usually bleach white socks and underwear?

but how do I disinfect the dark and colored clothes without fading them? How to wash colored undergarments, I usually bleach white socks and underwear?
I usually wash my dark colored underwear and socks with my dark colored clothes following the instructions that are on the bottle of detergent and with the washer. If they are really disgustingly dirty you can add a cup of so of white vinegar to the rinse cycle instead of fabric softener. Vinegar disinfects. How to wash colored undergarments, I usually bleach white socks and underwear?
There's absolutely no need to bleach any clothes (white or otherwise) unless they're heavily discoloured, it will rot the fabric away over time - if it's machine-washable just do that, if handwash, just use appropriate wash powder, always rinse well and allow to dry naturally.
Detergent is the #`1 cause of fading. You do not ';disinfect'; clothes. You just use the appropiate soap and wash in warm water and air dry. Do not use HOT water or HOT dryer.
Do not use bleach on colored clothing, you will ruin it. Why not buy detergent with bleach substitute and you wont have to worry about it.
You can buy color safe bleach at the supermarket. ';Clorox 2'; and ';Purex 2'; are the first two to come to mind. There are other brands to choose from.

Can I wash a tux shirt with bleach to remove the yellow stains of being in a closet for a couple years?

I'm getting ready for a concert and I lost my other shirt. I found this one in a closet and it has been there for a while. It is slightly yellowed and I was wondering if it would be safe to do a gentle wash with bleach? Can I wash a tux shirt with bleach to remove the yellow stains of being in a closet for a couple years?
the experts are saying now that while bleach is really good for most whitening problems, hydrogen peroxide is better for yellowing (as in age) as it does not break down the fabric. i would soak the shirt in a pan of warm water and a half a bottle of the peroxide for about 10-15 minutes, wash in machine on gentle. then check it out, if there is still yellowing, do it again. just don't dry it with the yellowing visible as it will set. good luckCan I wash a tux shirt with bleach to remove the yellow stains of being in a closet for a couple years?
Take it to a shirt laundry or dry cleaner. They have processes that can remove most yellowing due to aging. There are some shirts that yellow do to some adhesives that are used is the construction of the shirt, and to the best of my knowledge, that is not repairable. But the professionals will be able to do the best job. Most will be able to do it fast if you need it.
Washing that kind of shirt with bleach will turn the shirt yellow so if I was you I would take it to the cleanser and let a professional do it for you that way you know the shirt will be clean and press.
depends. Is it white? if it is, i think its safe. if u got time, send it out 4 dry cleaning, and theyll know wat to do.

A product called ';Thunderblast'; you can purchase at the Dollar General Store. Also works well for taking stains out of your carpet. Hope it works. Also West Marine has a product that cleans our boat canvas top. Work really well, but I don't know the name. You might want to check out the their website.
The solution should be 90 water/10 bleach. Although I'm not sure about putting bleach through a power washer.

Why not try a regular cleaning solution made for the power washer?
add a little mean green to the bleach and the mean green will cut the dirt and bleach will bite n it up at same time.
Cleaning with bleach in a power washer is not very environmental friendly. Try going to home depot or lowes or any other store like that and finding a vehicle washer. Most stores like that will sell a chemical that is specifically used to clean vehicles.

  • Used bleach to wash mold out of patio cushions - cushions turned ORANGE...Why?

Used bleach and hot water in the wash cycle......couldn't believe my eyes when I opened the washing machine.....instead of turning white....which is usually what bleach does.....they turned ORANGE? Does anyone know why this would happen? Does mold and bleach react that way normally? And how do I get them white again?? Anyone have any suggestions??Used bleach to wash mold out of patio cushions - cushions turned ORANGE...Why?
were they white to start with ?

if they were the bleach probably reacted to the mold..if they werent..then theres your answer..bleach doesnt usually turn out well when other colours are involved..unless you use colour-safe bleach.

If they were white..you can try soaking them overnight in bleach or napisan.

you can also try soaking in vinegar or baking soda.

you can leave it for 4 hours soaking..but preferly overnight..the longer the better.

if they were not white, i dont know if you will be able to turn them back to the way they were.Used bleach to wash mold out of patio cushions - cushions turned ORANGE...Why?
Bleach isn't meant for patio couch cushions...geesh, read the manual
each color of the visible spectrum has a certain number of chemical bonds that give them their respective colors...

    ie [these numbers are arbitrary]

having only six chemical bonds would be responsible for producing the blue color

having only three bonds would be responsible for orange etc...

when bleach interacts with colors, it destroys these chemical bonds that are responsible for the colors we see....

in the example mentioned above, the bleach has destroyed the 3 of blue's 6 chemical bonds and because only 3 chemical bonds remain we see the shift to orange...

hope this clears up some confusion...

wal mart and target should solid choices to replace patio cushions...also try lowe's...good prices...
The questioner failed to state what color the cushions were before the washing. If they were already a color, then the bleach reacted with some of the dyes and not others, leaving just the orange ones (or red and yellow) behind.
the chimicals in the bleach reacted with the other materials, it happens
I think it may have been a chemical reaction that happens with heat, if the couch looks good with them, thats good, if not, put thick white fabric on, and remove before washing
ockward. i think its the mold
It could be a chemical reaction to the fabric or the chemicals in your water reacted with the bleach and the mold. All kinds of combinations occur when you use chlorine bleach.
    may have to use slipcovers

the bleach may have reacted with the lining/filler

    in the cushions

    ooops

my 7 yr old son helped with the laundry

and washed my briefs with his new red shirt

    yep - Pop is Pink!
The bleach had a chemical reaction with the mold and coloring in the fabric of the cushions. If they have already turned orange then washing them again in bleach will not turn them white. Anytime you use bleach you should always use cold water, the hot water changes how the bleach interacts with chemicals whether lab made or naturally made.
    Try Oxi-Clean.
You might try oxy--but I think the damage is done. Probably the fabric content. Rit makes a product that is suppose to remove all color from fabrics before dying them. You could try it first. Or maybe just dye them a new color and then they would be like new again! If you sew--make some new covers for them. Or better yet--a great excuse to buy some new ones! Good luck!
The material was either a polyester or other poly-based fabric. Bleach yellows polyester.

Is it okay to bleach whites every time you wash them?

Will it harm the clothes, to be bleached every time?Is it okay to bleach whites every time you wash them?
Don't bleach every time because it destroys the fibres ';eats them'; and you'll end up with thinning fabrics (or with bare patches) and also bleach can turn whites more yellow than white when used often. Is it okay to bleach whites every time you wash them?
It is the amount of bleach you use that eventually destroys or basically dry rotts the material. From experience one day I lost my panties. The elastic ripped from the material when I pulled them up. So do go easy on the bleach.
I bleach mine every time, let the machine ( with clothes fill with water first),

then add the bleach ( so it is not full strenght sitting on the clothes)

then let them rest for a bit,

    then wash.

    they seem to be fine.
The bleach can weaken the fibers in the clothes. For example...If you bleached a pair of socks every time you washed them and you washed another pair without bleach every time you wash them, the socks that were bleached would wear down and develop holes first.
I've been doing it for years. The break down factor just isn't important to me %26amp; it's negligable. I'd rather have super clean %26amp; crisp whites, %26amp; have to buy socks and undies a little bit more often then not using bleach at all. Whites should be white, bright white!
The only way bleach will harm clothes is when it is poured on the clothing or not having the washer full of water first, and adding too much bleach will kill clothes too.
Using bleach on your clothing every time you launder will definitely make the fibers deteriorate quicker than usual. However, for items that get dingy easily and don't cost much like socks, undershirts, etc. I would have to say go for it.
Bleach eats your clothing if you wash them in bleach every time you clothes will wear down faster.
maybe every other time, I would not everytime...
I usually bleach really dirty things like socks everytime. Somethings may be ruined by too much bleach, but socks wear out anyways

I have a very soiled down comforter---can I wash it with bleach even tho the label says not to?

I wouldn*t; if the label says no to they must have a good reason; I would take it to the cleaners, then after you get it back nice and clean, make a duvet cover for it. It is just like a big pillow case; it protects your comfortor.

I made my own ; Measure the comfortor; buy

fleece at WalMart, and sew up the tree sides and pin the tope with big safty pins or make buttons and button holes , next time just wash the duvet cover and the comfortor is still cleanI have a very soiled down comforter---can I wash it with bleach even tho the label says not to?
Is it white? If not, then no... I would not use bleach.

You can try adding 20 Mule Team Borax and/or ammonia to your wash load. Both of these boost the action of your detergent, help remove smells and stains.

I highly recommend 20 Mule Team Borax for almost any laundry problems, and I always recommend ammonia for laundry odors.I have a very soiled down comforter---can I wash it with bleach even tho the label says not to?
Almost everything you but today says not to use bleach. If the colors are light, you might try a little clorox. Just partially fill the washer and add the bleach and stir it around with your hand to make sure it is diluted. This way if it does change the color it will be on the whole thing, not just spots

    or

    Try using color safe bleach.

Either way, at least you'll know it is clean. If the stains don't come out then go to a duvet cover.
Your best bet is wash the comforter in warm water or hot water if you prefer. I would use clorox 2 safe bleach.
I would certainly not do that. The manufacturer knows the fabric well.

I like orange oil ( but dont use too much goes a long way)

Do you wash your whites with bleach?

i'm basically talking about when you wash your clothes!Do you wash your whites with bleach?
yesDo you wash your whites with bleach?
    everytime!!!!!!

or they turn yellow and dingy
i was my whites with my asshole
if they're real cotton, yes. bleach will stiffen and yellow some synthetic materials (like bras!)
    yes
Not any more. I use peroxide, the same stuff you but on cuts, it whitens, but does not harm the fabric. A cup to each wash.
I use bleach when I wash my whites about every fifth to sixth load of whites I wash.
Yes I use bleach withe whites when washing,I also use ';pinesol'; when washing my sons geasy mechanics clothing.
No, I use oxyclean. I stopped using bleach as soon as oxyclean came out.
yes i do,but careful don,t overdo it,also add a little boraxo to the wash,it softens the water and it is a cleaning agent, you can getit at walmart....you should have a white frsh smelling wash.
    Ditto to Thomas S.
Wow, it's amazing to see that the majority are still polluting our waters and there bodies with the use of BLEACH, why in the world would you keep it in your homes - it is a dangerous chemical, in fact, in the workplace, they would have to provide me a full body suit and a ventilator mask if I needed bleach for anything(do your homework, check a M.S.D.S.) - THINK ABOUT IT - not to mention the skin burns and possible respitory effects of this harsh chemical, and please don't be fooled by Oxy-clean, it is full of harsh chemicals, too, There are other, safer chemical free cleaners and daily use products out there. Check out www.saferforyourhome.com and for info on how to shop for these items, email devlsinc@yahoo.ca
Yes. Use as color-safe bleach or separate the ';whites'; from the ';coloreds'; and wash each separately. I use a real liquid bleach on white clothing and a color-safe powdered bleach on colored clothing.
No, I just throw the clothes in and turn on the machine. I never have cared much about bleach white whites!
I usually add some bleach in while doing the whites it makes them whiter

Is it good to use regular liquid bleach on cloths during the wash cycle?

I have heard from a dry cleaner company that Bleach weakens the threads and stitching in the fabric and that the color fast bleaches in laundry soap are better than regular bleach. Is it good to use regular liquid bleach on cloths during the wash cycle?
Liquid chlorine bleach should only be used on 100% cotton fabric and only if it is white. Chlorine bleach will permanently yellow anything made from a man-made fiber such as polyester, or a polyester/cotton blend. Even this is not recommended unless the article is severely stained or needs sanitizing for some reason. It will weaken the fabric and the stitching. Most of the time I do not use bleach at all, just the detergent. It is easier on the colors and fabric (no bleach spots), the clothes wear longer, they do not have a chlorine smell, and they are clean. Is it good to use regular liquid bleach on cloths during the wash cycle?
The dry cleaner is right! Chlorine bleach weakens and degrades fibers very quickly and can also yellow whites. ';All color bleach'; is much safer, more effective and easier to use.

I've never bleached my hair before and I bought a kit, can I wash the bleach out in the shower or sink?

I want to bleach my hair before I go somewhere this weekend and I have a Highlighting kit (the cap/frosting type) and foil, i want to make bigger chunks of blonde on my hair rather than just highlights.

the thing is, is that i'm afraid of getting it in my eyes if i wash it out in the sink and if I get in the shower i'm afraid i'd burn my skin. so how do I wash out the bleach safely?I've never bleached my hair before and I bought a kit, can I wash the bleach out in the shower or sink?
the shower will prob be yer best bet.

cause havin bleach in yer eyes hurts like a

B**** but after you wash it out wash yer body so yer

    skin does not get irritatedd.

GOOD LUCK!I've never bleached my hair before and I bought a kit, can I wash the bleach out in the shower or sink?
Rinse it off in the laundry sink to be safe.

Your going to have to hurry it up if its for the weekend,if it goes wrong have a normal colour on hand just in case
There are a couple of ways to make bigger chunks. Foils are good, but you need help to do if you never have previously.

Another way is to wet your hair, slick it back with a bunch of hair gel. Once you have the gel in, use a wide tooth comb and style to the way you want your hair to fall. Then while it's in the style, use your fingers to rake through the style. this will leave bigger strands stuck together.

You are not letting the hair gel dry out, you're using to seperate out big pieces.

You then just take the bleach on a tint brush and brush ot along the gelled clups you want to be lightened.

You still may need help for the back.

Using the shower will be no problem, just close your eyes while you rinsing.

IM me and I can share more
shower is better ,,, but keep ur head down
I just want to warn you that if you do not have your natural color the results could be very dissapointing...and if you have had a color on your hair previously you can have 2 different highlights on your hair...

and if you want to wash it out the right way then bend over a shower and close your eyes....the bleach is not that strong that is going to burn you skin..if you think about it you are leaving the color on you hair which are touching your skin on your hair for 20min...don't you think?
i did the same thing i washed my hair out in the sink that the best way for me

  • When you wash your whites....Do you use only bleach or washing detergent also???

My girlfriend only uses bleach when doing her whites. She said since bleach kills everything-that washing powder is not effective on top of the bleach. Do you agree??When you wash your whites....Do you use only bleach or washing detergent also???
Bleach is effective in killing germs and helping to whiten, however, bleach has no ingredients to help loosen dirt from clothing. I would recommend using both. if you use bleach though, be certain to use it sparingly as it will break-down clothing fibers over time. Also, bleach should only be used on white clothing. if you are using colors, purchase a color-safe bleach/whitener.

Final tips: be certain to add bleach via the reservoir on the machine, or into the water directly BEFORE adding the clothes. Certain fabrics will stain or discolor if bleach is poured on them directly.

For items like white socks and t-shirts that bleach cannot seem to clean completely, try lemon juice. It is a very light acid that can break-up/dissolve dirt and hard water deposits on clothes and get them back to looking bright. When you wash your whites....Do you use only bleach or washing detergent also???
.no i don't agree. i use both! then use downy ball 2 soften and make them smell good. that is just my preference
Use detergent as well as bleach, but do not use dry bleach or even detergent that contains bleach with chlorine bleach. Dry bleach and chlorine bleach work differently and actually will neutralize each other.
Bleach isnt a soap, you need to use bleach to whiten your clothes and to remove a stain. But you need to use detergent to get the clothes clean.
you should only use bleach periodically when washing whites, and then only the amount directed on label. bleach eats away the fabric and will ruin anything elastic. I recommend using bleach no more than once a month or less.
I believe she is mistaken. We use detergent in addition to bleach.
No I don`t agree. I always use my detergent with my bleach otherwise how would the clothes come clean?
I dont agree..... Bleach is just there to clean the whites the washing powder is what washes the cloths... just bleach with make all her clothes thin and smell like just bleach.
Both but, when you use bleach you don't need as much detergent.
    NO!

First, never use bleach on your clothes! It destroys the material.

Use Oxy Clean and regular detergent.
Speak with your girlfriend and let her know that us women use

washing powder first, and then if the whites are really soiled

go ahead and add some bleach.

Sounds like you were paying attention when your mom did her

laundry, its amazing what we remember from our childhood.

    Happy laundering...
Washing detergent is the necessary party. Add bleach if you need to get a tough stain out of your whites.
    no, I use both
No. Use both for your whites.Detergent cleans and bleach only whitens. If all else fails , read the instructions on labels %26amp; for machine.
this is a easy one come on now you can did it.
I use both. Bleach is mainly for whitening and I don;t like the smell of just bleach alone. The detergent makes me not notice the smell.

In my opinion, you need both to get it clean and bright - that goes for color-safe bleach also.
I agree with the majority, I use both. I use fabric softener sheets in the dryer so the strong smell of bleach will not linger.

My dish cloth stinks in less than a week. Why? I wash it with bleach + I use anti-bacterial dish detergent.?

I never had this problem until I moved to Arizona. I buy high-quality (Williams Sonoma) dish cloths, but in less than a week's use they start to stink. I launder them with bleach, and I've tried different dish detergents (Dawn + Palmolive), but that doesn't seem to help. What do I need to do to keep my dish cloth from stinking? My dish cloth stinks in less than a week. Why? I wash it with bleach + I use anti-bacterial dish detergent.?
GIVE THEM A GOOD LEMON JUICE SOAKING AND WASH AS USUALMy dish cloth stinks in less than a week. Why? I wash it with bleach + I use anti-bacterial dish detergent.?
Okay, this might sound weird, and I didn't believe it until I actually experienced it.

It's the soap you are using. Dawn is the worse. It might clean your dishes but for some reason it smells up the dish towels and sponges.

As soon as I changed dish soap, problem disappeared, honestly!

I was told this by a supermarket worker several years ago. She said several customers had come into the market complaining about all of a sudden having this problem and they had just changed their brand, so they knew what the problem was. In fact she told me that these customers were returning the soap.....................Funny, huh!
    thats weird

    try using a sponge instead

ive always found they worked better
You should not be using the same one for a week... that is just gross.
Yes the bacteria from the food particles does make a significant difference but from the way you've asked your question I am going to assume that you actually started looking for any reason to give it that pungent smell. The other mystery is the water itself. In california we have hard water and so to alleviate the problem we use water softeners but in your area there me more or less of one or multiple products in the water. Such things as calcium chlorine etc.. My grandmother used to use a wash rag as well but eventually changed to a sponge and then a dishwasher all together, but what I am getting at is her manner in which she dealt with similar odors. She would finish washing and then ring out the wash cloth and then hang it over the faucet spout so it would air out and dry. Another thing she would do was change wash rags more frequently. Maybe one of these methods will help solve your problem, good luck..
If you prefer clothes to sponges you need a clean one everyday and if your a busy cook, maybe two. Sponges are easier, because you can run them in the top rack of your dishwasher, or zap the a few seconds in the microwave.
CHANGE SOAPS USE A ANTI-BACTERIA SOAP AND USE A SPONGE AND SQUEEZE THE SPONGE OUT AFTER TO GET THE SOAP OUT CHANGE TOWELS EVERY DAY OR 2 AT THE MOST OR IT WILL STINK.......................
If your using the same dish cloths for multiple cleaning, that will make it stink because of all the bacterial that its picking up and collecting. Once it starts to stink, its hard to take the smell off. Also sponges don't absorb germs and bacteria, instead its spreads it.
You need to use a new one everyday. Dont use the same one longer than that.
I use a fresh dish cloth every day. Mine never stinks. I also go through a lot of kitchen towels daily. I keep a plastic tub on top of my washer and throw them in there. I wash them every few days.
You use the same dish cloth for a week?
i use cheap store brand dish cloths and use them like 2 a week because they start to stink after a while... could be your venelation , your water, or jsut the fact you are washing gross stuff with them...
use sponge instead of cloth. always squeeze out all the foam then wash after every use.
i change every other day moisture will collect and cause oder to occur

How do i get the body order out of my cloths even though i wash them with bleach it still remains?

I have tried everything from oxy to baking soda and nothing is workingHow do i get the body order out of my cloths even though i wash them with bleach it still remains?
Make sure that you're using a high quality laundry detergent. My personal preference is Gain. Gain detergent tends to be heavily scented and some of the fragrance stays with the clothes after they are washed. Another thing that might be causing the problem is overloading the washing machine. When you put the clothes in the washer, make sure thar they can move around freely so the entire load of laundry gets enough detergent and water to clean it. Some people add 1-2 cups of vinegar to the rinse but I don't. There's a very old and inexpensive product called 20 Mule Team Borax that is said to boost the cleaning by 40%. You might want to get some of that if your clothes tend to get stinky. Good luck.

Both products mentioned can be found at Wal-mart's and major grocery stores. How do i get the body order out of my cloths even though i wash them with bleach it still remains?
Did you try using white vinegar in the wash? It's the best thing I know of for removing laundry odors. It's very inexpensive as well. I wash all our smelly stuff with it (dog bedding, my sons smelly socks etc.) Give it a shot.

    http://www.diylife.com/2007/08/02/vinega鈥?/a>
When you wash your clothes add 1/2 cup of ammonia along with your regular laundry detergent. The ammonia will break up the protein in the clothing which in turn will get rid of the smell. Good Luck!!!

HOW SAFE IS IT TO WASH YOUR DISHES WITH BLEACH?

Lately I have been placing all my dishes in bleach water to kill all germs. Then after soaking for a while I wash them like normal with dish soap and water then rinse. Is this safe? I know lots of people do it and also in lots of different ways.but I was just wondering.HOW SAFE IS IT TO WASH YOUR DISHES WITH BLEACH?
Its safe , I have been washing my dishes with bleach for over 6 years now and everyone in our house is perfectly fine , even the children are fine , I add 1/4 cup or so to my dishwater and then add my dish soap , and then my dishes just wear gloves if you have sensitive skin , and rinse well , and everyone will be fine . Bleach is in the water from your faucet wheere you brush your teeth and take a shower , it is used in the treatment plants and alot more things that you use everyday that you are not aware of . you and your family will be fine .HOW SAFE IS IT TO WASH YOUR DISHES WITH BLEACH?
It is ok to do this, and recommended if you hand wash dishes to put a cap full of bleach per gallon of water to kill germs.

I do not think this can hurt anyone.

The bleach will die within a few hours in the water.

Also if you rinse it off, it can't hurt anyone.

Lots of day care facilities use this method if they have to hand wash dishes and wipe counters.

You probably didn't know this, but people used to put bleach in well water to kill bacteria. This made it safe to drink after a few days.
We used to do this a lot. The key is to dilute the bleach, and then afterwards, completely submerge the plate in water.
Chlorine bleach is used in the pools we swim in. Unless you have an allergy, you'll survive at least to 96, as my dad did.
What germs are you killing? The germs from the food you have just eaten or airborne germs?
yes its safe but dont use it alot only like if u ate eggs or something that stinks and dont put alot of it lol :]
dilute the bleach %26amp; rinse well
that sounds like a pretty bad idea to me

    bleach is toxic...
    i have NO idea.

    * Pour full strength liquid laundry detergent on stain and rub into fabric about 5 minutes prior to washing.

    * Use Borax for detergent.

I pretreat any stains with Oxi Clean spray then wash in hot water with a scoop of Oxi Clean powder and Gain liquid detergent. My whites stay snowy white it even takes care of deodorant stains. I definately agree with you about the bleach.
what about the colorsafe bleach, that wont bleach out colors either. works for me
Oxyclean! it actually turns into hydrogen peroxide when added to water and does a good job of bleaching out stains in whites. As somebody already mentioned, mrs. Stewarts works well on whites. Another tip is to add a 1/2 cup of vinegar to the final rinse to help remove any soap residue.

For dingy whites, once a month add 1 cup of automatic dishwashing detergent to the washer, let it fill with hot water and agitate for a minute, then add the clothes and let agitate for 10 minutes. Let sit overnight, then wash as normal. You will be amazed at the difference it makes!
i use oxi clean to every load of laundry, colored or whites. it works good on whites.

    good luck.
Separate your whites. Use Oxy Clean. In the rinse use Mrs. Stewart's '; this is a liquid very dark royal blue'; and use only a few drops mixed with a gallon of water that you pour in your rinse machine. be careful not to pour over your white. It would make spots and cna't get rid of them afterwards. This brings your whites so white, and it's neat for other colors, brings back the true colors. Read the instructions. It's a secret.!

How do you wash white clothes with bleach?

I never used bleach before. Some of my clothes gets a little bit darker when i wash it with regular soap. Can i use bleach on white clothes that have a logo on it?How do you wash white clothes with bleach?
You want to use a color safe bleach. Chlorine bleach will work also if the logo is color fast. The problem with chlorine bleach is that it must be diluted in the wash water before you put in the clothes. A high concentration of chlorine bleach can damage fabrics. If your water has a high iron content, chlorine bleach can yellow your whites. How do you wash white clothes with bleach?
Turn the whites inside out and put the bleach in the while the water is runngin so that its all around and not in one spot.
Some logos can resist bleach. Add the bleach to the first soap wash. Read the instuctions on the label about how much you should use. I just guess, more or less.
Use non-chlorine bleach, safe on colors. Like Clorox 2 or Biz. Found in the laundry section, even at the dollar store.

White towels that I'm not supposed to wash with bleach?

I went looking for white bath towels, with the idea that when I wash them I can use bleach in the laundry cycle for cleanliness/sanitation.

Instead, all I find at stores are white towels with directions to use 'warm water and non-chlorine bleach'.

Why can't I use regular bleach to wash them? The towels are all-cotton, so what is the problem?White towels that I'm not supposed to wash with bleach?
Chlorine bleach will eventually leave them yellow. It will also weaken the fibres. Use an oxygenated bleach, or (if you are in the UK) a washing powder for whites that already has oxygenated bleach incorporated in it. If you wash them in hot water they will be sanitised and the oxygen bleach will also sanitise them.White towels that I'm not supposed to wash with bleach?
I would think that ';all cotton'; could be bleached. Maybe the factory put the wrong directions on those towels. I'd try bleaching one of them to see what happens. I can't imagine not being able to use bleach with cotton. Try one. lol See what happens.

What will happen to my clothes if I wash them with bleach?

I stored most of my clothes in plastic garbage bags for a year and upon taking them out I'm deathly allergic, probably due to a little bit of mold/mildew that accumulated in the bag. So if I add a bit of non-chlorine bleach to the load, are my clothes going to look like crap after?

I've already tried washing some of them 3 times on the super duty cycle on the machine and although better, I'm still sneezing a little while wearing them.

ThanksWhat will happen to my clothes if I wash them with bleach?
Your light-colored cotton clothes should make it OK through an additional wash cycle with a small amount of detergent and chlorine bleach. It has to be chlorine bleach, I'm sorry to say, to kill mold and mildew. The rinse and dry cycles should take out any bleach odor.

Wool and rayon would be totally ruined by chlorine bleach. Colored cotton garments would lose some of their color. Synthetics might develop off colors or spotted areas. If you value those garments enough, take them to a dry cleaner. What will happen to my clothes if I wash them with bleach?
Find a really nice smelling detergent (that you like) and same with fabric softener. Let them soak in the washer for awhile before you start the cycle.

Also you might try Borateem or Arm and Hammer washing soda or Oxyclean to help freshen them. Good luck
borax is generally safe for most fabrics. you can find it at most supermarkets. it will say BORAX 20 Mule Team, mix it in with your regular detergent. and if it's nice out, just hang 'em outside for a day, that should do it.
As long as it is non-chlorine bleach you should be OK. Where you can use warmer water (or even hot) do so as long as the tag inside each garment says it is OK. If any say 'dry clean only' you should do that despite the cost.
Avoid using the bleach, and throw out the garbage bags, if you haven't already.

Try hanging the clothes out in the sunshine for a couple of hours. Let the sun kill the mold and mildew spores.
Bleach will ruin your clothes, but it'll kill the mold. Try bringing them to a dry cleaner's and see what they can do.

Yes it's fine. Let them soak in a sink of water plus 1 cup of bleach for about an hour. Wash and rinse as usual. All the harmful chemicals in the bleach will evaporate with the water. Is it OK to wash tupperware with bleach to remove stains?
My mother washes everything in bleach. As long as you rinse it really good, then run it through the dishwasher, it is probably fine.

A tip to prevent staining: Spray the tupperware with pan spray before putting food in it.
yes,its ok to use it as long as you rinse it really good afterwards!i have done it for years!
no it's OK just rinse it good
i doubt it, but if you're really worried there is a product from cascade that's supposed to clean stains off of plastic.
no not with bleach, can leech into food. but try cream of tartar, about 2 tbsp works to take red out of dishwasher and cutting boards, I add it to bottom of dishwasher when I know we are having spaghetti whitens things right up. I would add it to my dish water and let tupperware soak.
To get the stains out try baking soda. In the future a tip to help prevent stains in Tupperware..... before you put something like tomato sauce in a Tupperware container rinse it with cold water and shake before putting in the food.

Or buy some laundry sanitation stuff from Petsmart or Petco and use it that way.

Also, Clorox Hard Surface cleaner is awesome. It is safe for human children and should be wonderful for pets items also.
I'd just wash them with regular detergent, in very hot water.

If you are washing loads with bleach somewhere along the way, like just before you use other loads, apparently it's not getting rinsed out. You might need to set the washer to run a load everytime after you put bleach in a load. But don't put anything in there important, wash cleaning rags or old towels. Just don't put bleach in the washer again. I've had this happen before, so I never wash my good, dark work clothes right after a load of whites where I used bleach. I wash the towels or sheets which I won't care that much if some bleach gets on them.
    1. let your washer fill up with at least a few gallons of water.

    2. pour your detergent into the running water, and let it bubble up.

    3. THEN add your clothes once the soap is quite diluted and bubbly.

never pour detergent straight onto clothes, it is too strong.
Still try a different detergent or is it right after you bleach something?

Can I use bleach and detergent to wash a colored blanket?

My cat has a UTI and he peed on my blanket I use on my bed. I was wondering how much (if I could) liquid bleach I could use in the washer with the blanket. I've washed it and he peed on it again because even I can still smell the urine. If I can't use bleach, any other ideas? Can I use bleach and detergent to wash a colored blanket?
Don't use bleach unless it color safe. I had a cat do the same thing. I just washed it using fabric softener in the rinse cycle. Can I use bleach and detergent to wash a colored blanket?
No you can't use bleach on a colored blanket, but you can either buy the bleach for colors or you can use a stain remover without bleach or use a softener with detergent to take out the smell. Hope this helps. =)

How do i wash white with bleach?

that about it.How do i wash white with bleach?
If the load is all white, then add the usual amount of detergent (capful) a cup of bleach to warm water. Let the machine fill artially with water then add the clothes. How do i wash white with bleach?
The answerer above gave good directions, but I would add that bleached items don't necessarily have to be white. For instance, I always bleach my kitchen and bath towels to make sure they are free of germs. I also bleach bed sheets for the same reason. The labels for these items will say, ';Do not bleach'; but that is only if you think it's more important to keep their color than to keep them sanitary.
